The largest national program for the creation and acceleration of startups in the field of Tourism is back for a 4th edition! If you want to develop an innovative business in the Tourism sector, you only have to apply for Tourism Explorers, here.
The program that aims to train Portuguese entrepreneurs and help reduce regional asymmetries is returning for a 4th edition. Participation is free and applications are open until October 7 at www.tourismexplorers.pt.
Divided into Ideation and Acceleration, Tourism Explorers will take place, simultaneously (through live-streaming), in 12 cities: Aveiro, Beja, Caldas da Rainha, Coimbra, Covilhã, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Porto, São Miguel (Lagoa and Ponta Delgada), Setúbal and Viseu.
At Ideação, participants will have to find an innovative solution to the challenge they are faced with. In Acceleration, teams will have the opportunity to test and validate their business model.
After 3 successful editions, Fábrica de Startups, in partnership with Turismo de Portugal, again supports participants to:
Create successful new businesses;
Define the best strategy for your business;
Adapt your business to a new reality;
Access a unique network of national mentors, specialized partners in the sector, potential customers and investors.
Launched in 2017, Tourism Explorers has already involved more than 730 entrepreneurs, spread across 17 cities, and has contributed to the development of more than 290 startups. And, according to the most recent Impact Report, 60% of the startups that participated in this program remain active (but in different phases), 23% received some type of investment (43% say they received private investment) and 13% managed to internationalize its business (the largest concentration being on Spain and Brazil).
Among the most well-known cases of startups that participated in Tourism Explorers and that received investment, we highlight Sailside, Live Electric Tours (also awarded the prize for Best Tourism Startup in Europe, in 2018, at the Startup Europe Awards), Bag4Days and Try Portugal.
To carry out this program, partnerships are ensured in the different cities of the country, with Schools of Hospitality and Tourism, incubators of RNI - National Incubators Network, Universities and Polytechnic Institutes.
